Image result for been missing you

I haven't been around in awhile and I have missed this, but I have always kept my eyes open and thought about so much to write about. First of all I have come across so many women who's look, style, hair, and attitude is on fleet. The ones that are new to the game as well as the ones who are highly seasoned kudos to you, I smile and complement you on your styles. I know taking time to put your best self forward is hard sometimes because life does get in the way, so many of us are juggling so many titles and responsibilities but if you don't take time to make it about you, then I promise no body else will.

On that note, I though I would touch on some of the great things I have come across. First, I have come across an affordable make up line that has good stuff. NYX cosmetics has got me for affordability. MAC is still the queen of makeup(working on a blog about their products, soon) but if you are looking for something a little more within your budget for experimenting then NYX is good. I have a few darker, matte finishes so of course I will switching those out for more spring/summer looks(dark colors are sometimes to harsh for summer looks, unless it is for a night out).

The next thing is hair, and oh there is so much to this(natural, crotch, braids, cuts, color....)to much to name but so many options(not even going to get into the whole Kim Kardashian "invention" of the box braid nonsense, my momma was putting those things in my head on Sunday nights for school on Monday but anyway!).  Ladies the game has been elevated so no excuses for a beautiful mane. My new thing is this John Frieda Brilliant Brunette lightning treatment. I wanted to try something new so I gave this a try and it is subtle but the more you use it the lighter your tresses become over time. I am not a drastic change kind of girl, but hey I am getting there....baby steps for me.

The last thing I want to speak on is the not so great nail game, now I heard Tamar Braxton speak on this(got to catch The Real one day). Women with these nails that have all this "STUFF" on their nais....rind-stone, glitter, studs, bows, hoops. Ladies it is to much, what ever happened to pretty painted nails that were lengths that you can actually work with(yes, I am throwing shade to the talon, claws, and coffin shaped nails). That's just not right, can we please get back to the days of beautiful polished manicures without the extras(I would be scared to wipe myself with some of the stuff I have seen). Just my opinion.....until the next time ladies.

It's Almost That Time!

Ladies, the holiday season is about to kick off in full swing(for some the kick off might be happening too soon) don't sweat it. For some of us trying to figure out what to wear, what can I afford to buy? and why can't I find anything to wear? will begin to torment us. So, I thought about some things and, I wanted to share them with you.

#1 Stick to what you know looks good on you, meaning don't go out and by the hot new eyeshadow in Peacock to impress if you don't know how it will look on you. You don't want to be in the photos the next day on social media as the girl with the  weird Teal eyes or worse, being tagged in all the photos(name in bold letters), you know once on the internet, forever on the internet, right!
Instead go with colors or makeup that looks great on you already, this is the time to look beautiful and have pictures you will be proud to show off when sitting on Santa's lap.

#2 If you can't go out and buy something for each event, don't stress over it, it's ok to recycle but the trick is in the details. Wearing one color then accessorizing with bold pieces make the outfit all about the accessory. If you have a ton on black clothes(like myself) have a statement earring to put focus on your makeup. If you have a pretty solid color blouse but it is plain, then add a bold necklace. I love the long hanging chain necklaces because it allows you to undo a couple of buttons and let the chain hang low. If your whole outfit is plain or monotone then you must focus on your feet, and I mean a huge focus to your feet. Gorgeous boots or heels to give it flair( I am telling you now some toes may have to be sacrificed for the good of the outfit).

#3 Last but not least by any means, have fun be your beautiful self and bring your very best to each and every event you are invited to this holiday season. You should be enjoying this time with friends, family, and co-workers so, as long as you come in what you feel good in (hopefully not the Peacock eyeshadow) you will be just fine.

I've Tried That This Summer

I'm Back!

To all my beautiful women working on that sexy side of themselves I have missed you. While I have not been writing I have been continuing to work on that sexy side of myself. This summer had me consumed with living life(family, friends, graduations, celebration and all things in between) however, I was still working on getting my sexy on and I wanted to share some of my discoveries with you. Let's call them the good, the bad, and the "I just can't".

#1 Skin Luminators work magic for a summer glow. Loreal's Paris True Match Lumi is great. I like the powder glow illuminator in Rose. Whether you use the powder or the liquid illuminator you will love the results and have a beautiful glow all year long. This product is perfect for strobing(YouTube it)

#2 I rediscovered Baby Oil....enough said. I will never again forget the power of a little baby oil.

#3 Let's categorized this one as "bad" in my opinion. I decided to give eyebrow threading another try. The first time was not a good experience there was pain, puffiness and I think I even shed a tear. I decided not to be a wussy and give it a second chance. This time I knew what to expect, this time I could bare the pain. NOPE! The pain was real and I will never go back. Give me a wax job any day over someone pulling out my facial hairs with thread. One good rip is better than the multiple plucking...I have tears in my eye just thinking about it, I think I am traumatized.

#4 qualifies as simply"I Just Can't", we have all seen the bold lip colors that are gracing magazine pages as well as Pinterest and Instagram. I was feeling adventurous and decided to partake in some of these vivid beauties. It didn't work out, in fact many of those colors did not make it out of my bathroom mirror. While I am proud of the women who can strut their stuff wearing colors such as Sway or Stone Fox by NYX, I just can't do it. Now, I have a make -up drawer of  bold color lipsticks and lip glosses for  Halloween costumes if anyone wants to borrow them.

Well this is how I spent my summer, please feel free to share your beauty finds because we are all working on our sexy side and don't mind sharing. Until next time my beauty vixens.

In Our DNA

It's been awhile since I have written, life seemed to have gotten in the way, but this has been on my mind so I had to type it out.
Ladies, we should always present our best selves when we are out in the world, and I see many young girls, young ladies, and women that are just not doing that and I wonder why? Now, I am not saying you should be all glamed up every time  you leave out but, you should be showing off the best you at that time no mater what. Whether you are in full make mode or a little facial moisturizer and lip balm you should always present your best self. I see woman out in Pajamas(and you know how i feel about that), woman with house shoes on, ratty clothes, hair looking like a bird been playing in it, or my least favorite the women that claim they are natural(being natural and being unkempt are two different things, Google It!).
I don't understand what is going on, don't you realize being cute, glam, sexy, and seductive are apart of our DNA. We can't help it, and if you don't believe me think about wanting to play in your mothers high heels at 2 years old, or the fact that cherry Chap stick was our go to makeup at 8 years old. We like to be cute, girly, and flirtatious. So what is really going on? I know life gets in the way and while you may want to take an extra few minutes to glam-it-up you don't have the time but women are the best multi-taskers and if we can juggle work, children, home, relationships, family, and so many other things I think we should all find a little extra time for ourselves, we deserve it and we had earned it.
Lets stop ignoring, avoiding, and suppressing who/what we are as women. We go out and run the world everyday, so ladies stop downplaying yourself.

Please and Thank You

A Sexxy Start

Any thing black, especially a little black dress. I can't help it I love black it dark, sensual and basic with class.
I love layered necklaces, it is especially sexy with a plunging neckline or collared blouse with a deep opening

80% of the time I will have a dark color on my toes, I think it looks better on my feet......

I will choose lip gloss over lipstick any day, it is something about the shine, to me you are asking for lips to be notice

A good pair of fitted jeans, I don't think I need to explain why

A little shimmer for the summer months

Every women should own a pair of hoops, they are a sexy accessory must have

A nice neutral summer color for me

I am not a big make-up person, I love a minimalist look and the fact that you can be made up without looking like it.

This is my sexy look list, what is yours? If you don't have one then there is no time like the present to put it together. All it takes is baby steps to getting your sexy on.

Don't Go It Alone

I have been thinking about how the best motivation may not come from ourselves but from others. Now, I know we should believe in ourselves, and encourage ourselves whether it is something as challenging as climbing the corporate ladder to something as simple as getting sexy but, sometimes that encouragement, motivation, or confidence boost comes from a friend, co-worker or even a complement from a stranger.
I will give you an example, recently at my job we have decided to get down to business so we can get our sexy on this summer. We all have been slacking at some point in time all winter(you too! so don't judge)so, we are all focusing on eating better, getting a little exercise(just some extra steps in to burn some calories), and for some of us upgrade our style/wardrobe/look. I have to honestly say it's fun doing as a group and, I believe we encourage one another(no bullhorn needed, just laughs, encouraging words, and healthy breakfast/lunches for all) in a way that may not be as effective if each one of us was going it alone. Now, no one is keeping tabs on one another outside of work, but for that 8-10 hours we are together we make it a good, relaxed, fun experience and I have realized that that is important to have someone positive in your corner for that encouragement.
I would like to take with I have learned and encourage you to do the same. It does not have to be motivation to eat healthy or loose weight. It can be something simple as getting cute for the summer, finding a new color to wear, or a new hairstyle. The point is to have someone in your corner that encourages you, and motivates you to get out there and be a better, sexier, confident you.

Let's Get Ready for Summer

Ladies it has been a hard winter for all of us, some got it worse then others but I can see the sun and summer is upon us so time to put in work. Before you slip on those slingbacks, reveal those shoulders or even go swimsuit shopping lets get things right.
I know not all women shaved during the winter months(this is an actual fact), or only shave particular areas i.e legs from the knees down. If this is you then OK, but it is now time to shave/wax it all. You will no longer be able to get by with half a shave so now is the time to invest in the good stuff(razors, shaving cream, Nair, wax...what ever are your tools of the trade) and start the prep work. Remember exfoliation is also important for the skin just like it is for the feet. Caress body wash is my choice whether it's Tahitian Renewal or Evenly Gorgeous you will walk out your shower with soft, smooth skin, ditching the dry skin that may have plagued you all winter. Now, if you are a DIY(Do It Yourself) kind of girl then a homemade body scrub made from sea salt, white sugar, or brown sugar maybe the way to go for you(I will post some to my Facebook page www.facebook.com/gettingtosexy). What ever method you chose, the benefits of exfoliating is worth the extra shower time.
The next prep works is the feet, please please, please do not attempt to slide on anything that reveals any part of your foot without getting a "GOOD" pedicure. Think about it your feet have been stuffed in boots, socks, and what ever else to stay warm this winter, and there are some of us that put off getting pedicures during the winter months(even though that is not an excuse). Now is the time to get that together and get those tootsies soft, smoothed out and presentable for our hot summer months. I suggest going to a professional and letting them work their magic but if you want to DIY I suggest the Listerine foot soak and exfoliating with a lemon half that has been dipped in sugar. You can Google these recipes as well but I will also post them this week. Keep in mind the money you spend to DIY your feet you can give to a professional to smooth them out, at least the first time to kick off the summer, after that you can  DIY to maintain them.
The last thing ladies I want to mention is updating your makeup to some cute summer colors, there are plenty of cosmetic companies that have put out a rainbow of colors for the summer season. My favorite right now is Cover Girl Colorlicious in Purplelicious #650. It is a fun color with a lot of shine. Your makeup should be fun and colorful for the summer so this is a good time to start trying new shades and colors to carry you through a long, warm summer(fingers crossed).
