It's Almost That Time!

Ladies, the holiday season is about to kick off in full swing(for some the kick off might be happening too soon) don't sweat it. For some of us trying to figure out what to wear, what can I afford to buy? and why can't I find anything to wear? will begin to torment us. So, I thought about some things and, I wanted to share them with you.

#1 Stick to what you know looks good on you, meaning don't go out and by the hot new eyeshadow in Peacock to impress if you don't know how it will look on you. You don't want to be in the photos the next day on social media as the girl with the  weird Teal eyes or worse, being tagged in all the photos(name in bold letters), you know once on the internet, forever on the internet, right!
Instead go with colors or makeup that looks great on you already, this is the time to look beautiful and have pictures you will be proud to show off when sitting on Santa's lap.

#2 If you can't go out and buy something for each event, don't stress over it, it's ok to recycle but the trick is in the details. Wearing one color then accessorizing with bold pieces make the outfit all about the accessory. If you have a ton on black clothes(like myself) have a statement earring to put focus on your makeup. If you have a pretty solid color blouse but it is plain, then add a bold necklace. I love the long hanging chain necklaces because it allows you to undo a couple of buttons and let the chain hang low. If your whole outfit is plain or monotone then you must focus on your feet, and I mean a huge focus to your feet. Gorgeous boots or heels to give it flair( I am telling you now some toes may have to be sacrificed for the good of the outfit).

#3 Last but not least by any means, have fun be your beautiful self and bring your very best to each and every event you are invited to this holiday season. You should be enjoying this time with friends, family, and co-workers so, as long as you come in what you feel good in (hopefully not the Peacock eyeshadow) you will be just fine.

I've Tried That This Summer

I'm Back!

To all my beautiful women working on that sexy side of themselves I have missed you. While I have not been writing I have been continuing to work on that sexy side of myself. This summer had me consumed with living life(family, friends, graduations, celebration and all things in between) however, I was still working on getting my sexy on and I wanted to share some of my discoveries with you. Let's call them the good, the bad, and the "I just can't".

#1 Skin Luminators work magic for a summer glow. Loreal's Paris True Match Lumi is great. I like the powder glow illuminator in Rose. Whether you use the powder or the liquid illuminator you will love the results and have a beautiful glow all year long. This product is perfect for strobing(YouTube it)

#2 I rediscovered Baby Oil....enough said. I will never again forget the power of a little baby oil.

#3 Let's categorized this one as "bad" in my opinion. I decided to give eyebrow threading another try. The first time was not a good experience there was pain, puffiness and I think I even shed a tear. I decided not to be a wussy and give it a second chance. This time I knew what to expect, this time I could bare the pain. NOPE! The pain was real and I will never go back. Give me a wax job any day over someone pulling out my facial hairs with thread. One good rip is better than the multiple plucking...I have tears in my eye just thinking about it, I think I am traumatized.

#4 qualifies as simply"I Just Can't", we have all seen the bold lip colors that are gracing magazine pages as well as Pinterest and Instagram. I was feeling adventurous and decided to partake in some of these vivid beauties. It didn't work out, in fact many of those colors did not make it out of my bathroom mirror. While I am proud of the women who can strut their stuff wearing colors such as Sway or Stone Fox by NYX, I just can't do it. Now, I have a make -up drawer of  bold color lipsticks and lip glosses for  Halloween costumes if anyone wants to borrow them.

Well this is how I spent my summer, please feel free to share your beauty finds because we are all working on our sexy side and don't mind sharing. Until next time my beauty vixens.

In Our DNA

It's been awhile since I have written, life seemed to have gotten in the way, but this has been on my mind so I had to type it out.
Ladies, we should always present our best selves when we are out in the world, and I see many young girls, young ladies, and women that are just not doing that and I wonder why? Now, I am not saying you should be all glamed up every time  you leave out but, you should be showing off the best you at that time no mater what. Whether you are in full make mode or a little facial moisturizer and lip balm you should always present your best self. I see woman out in Pajamas(and you know how i feel about that), woman with house shoes on, ratty clothes, hair looking like a bird been playing in it, or my least favorite the women that claim they are natural(being natural and being unkempt are two different things, Google It!).
I don't understand what is going on, don't you realize being cute, glam, sexy, and seductive are apart of our DNA. We can't help it, and if you don't believe me think about wanting to play in your mothers high heels at 2 years old, or the fact that cherry Chap stick was our go to makeup at 8 years old. We like to be cute, girly, and flirtatious. So what is really going on? I know life gets in the way and while you may want to take an extra few minutes to glam-it-up you don't have the time but women are the best multi-taskers and if we can juggle work, children, home, relationships, family, and so many other things I think we should all find a little extra time for ourselves, we deserve it and we had earned it.
Lets stop ignoring, avoiding, and suppressing who/what we are as women. We go out and run the world everyday, so ladies stop downplaying yourself.

Please and Thank You

A Sexxy Start

Any thing black, especially a little black dress. I can't help it I love black it dark, sensual and basic with class.
I love layered necklaces, it is especially sexy with a plunging neckline or collared blouse with a deep opening

80% of the time I will have a dark color on my toes, I think it looks better on my feet......

I will choose lip gloss over lipstick any day, it is something about the shine, to me you are asking for lips to be notice

A good pair of fitted jeans, I don't think I need to explain why

A little shimmer for the summer months

Every women should own a pair of hoops, they are a sexy accessory must have

A nice neutral summer color for me

I am not a big make-up person, I love a minimalist look and the fact that you can be made up without looking like it.

This is my sexy look list, what is yours? If you don't have one then there is no time like the present to put it together. All it takes is baby steps to getting your sexy on.

Don't Go It Alone

I have been thinking about how the best motivation may not come from ourselves but from others. Now, I know we should believe in ourselves, and encourage ourselves whether it is something as challenging as climbing the corporate ladder to something as simple as getting sexy but, sometimes that encouragement, motivation, or confidence boost comes from a friend, co-worker or even a complement from a stranger.
I will give you an example, recently at my job we have decided to get down to business so we can get our sexy on this summer. We all have been slacking at some point in time all winter(you too! so don't judge)so, we are all focusing on eating better, getting a little exercise(just some extra steps in to burn some calories), and for some of us upgrade our style/wardrobe/look. I have to honestly say it's fun doing as a group and, I believe we encourage one another(no bullhorn needed, just laughs, encouraging words, and healthy breakfast/lunches for all) in a way that may not be as effective if each one of us was going it alone. Now, no one is keeping tabs on one another outside of work, but for that 8-10 hours we are together we make it a good, relaxed, fun experience and I have realized that that is important to have someone positive in your corner for that encouragement.
I would like to take with I have learned and encourage you to do the same. It does not have to be motivation to eat healthy or loose weight. It can be something simple as getting cute for the summer, finding a new color to wear, or a new hairstyle. The point is to have someone in your corner that encourages you, and motivates you to get out there and be a better, sexier, confident you.

Let's Get Ready for Summer

Ladies it has been a hard winter for all of us, some got it worse then others but I can see the sun and summer is upon us so time to put in work. Before you slip on those slingbacks, reveal those shoulders or even go swimsuit shopping lets get things right.
I know not all women shaved during the winter months(this is an actual fact), or only shave particular areas i.e legs from the knees down. If this is you then OK, but it is now time to shave/wax it all. You will no longer be able to get by with half a shave so now is the time to invest in the good stuff(razors, shaving cream, Nair, wax...what ever are your tools of the trade) and start the prep work. Remember exfoliation is also important for the skin just like it is for the feet. Caress body wash is my choice whether it's Tahitian Renewal or Evenly Gorgeous you will walk out your shower with soft, smooth skin, ditching the dry skin that may have plagued you all winter. Now, if you are a DIY(Do It Yourself) kind of girl then a homemade body scrub made from sea salt, white sugar, or brown sugar maybe the way to go for you(I will post some to my Facebook page www.facebook.com/gettingtosexy). What ever method you chose, the benefits of exfoliating is worth the extra shower time.
The next prep works is the feet, please please, please do not attempt to slide on anything that reveals any part of your foot without getting a "GOOD" pedicure. Think about it your feet have been stuffed in boots, socks, and what ever else to stay warm this winter, and there are some of us that put off getting pedicures during the winter months(even though that is not an excuse). Now is the time to get that together and get those tootsies soft, smoothed out and presentable for our hot summer months. I suggest going to a professional and letting them work their magic but if you want to DIY I suggest the Listerine foot soak and exfoliating with a lemon half that has been dipped in sugar. You can Google these recipes as well but I will also post them this week. Keep in mind the money you spend to DIY your feet you can give to a professional to smooth them out, at least the first time to kick off the summer, after that you can  DIY to maintain them.
The last thing ladies I want to mention is updating your makeup to some cute summer colors, there are plenty of cosmetic companies that have put out a rainbow of colors for the summer season. My favorite right now is Cover Girl Colorlicious in Purplelicious #650. It is a fun color with a lot of shine. Your makeup should be fun and colorful for the summer so this is a good time to start trying new shades and colors to carry you through a long, warm summer(fingers crossed).

Enough Already

I am a tolerant person, I can roll with the punches with the best of them without complaining. Today, I am complaining. I am through with winter!!! I want to feel the grass between my pastel painted toes. I want to prance around in a cute summer dress exposing my (shaved) legs. I want to feel the sun on my shoulders and bask in a golden tan. Please bring back summer, old man winter has done a number on us all and I can’t take it anymore. I promise I will not be complaining when the temperature reached 90+ degrees and my eyeliner has begun to smear. I promise I will not complain when SPF 50 sunscreen is not enough to ward off the intense rays of the sun. I promise I will not complain when sweat starts to form (back, underarms, under our breast) in unflattering places. I promise not to complain because it is now mandatory to shave all over (this does not really apply to me, but I do know some women that do…no judgment). It has been so long since I have felt the warmth of the sun, I promise I will not complain. Summer dresses, espadrilles, tank tops, shorts, and swimsuits. Bring on summer because we are all through with the cold. Until then I will window shop for cute dresses, try on pretty sandals, and wait for the day that I can once again feel the sun on my legs.

Thank you for allowing me to vent..................................

No PJs Before 8pm

no pj2Ladies, I understand when you get home from work you just want to remove the stress, frustration, and maybe chaos of your workday. I completely understand but, please do not go home and put on your pajamas at 6pm. This is not cute, sexy, or appealing especially if you have a husband or living with your man. In my opinion it does not set a good example for our young girls either, but that is a topic for another conversation. There are cute inexpensive dresses from stores like Old Navy that are perfect to come home and slip on. Simple maxi dresses, cute t-shirt dresses, and tank top dresses are all great for the summer whether long or short. If you are a blue jean girl then put on a cute little top, or a V-neck t-shirt can look really sexy if you purchase the right ones. Target has a great fitted  V neck t-shirt. I believe none of our men wants to see us walking around in pajamas.
There are some exceptions to this, if you come home feeling ill, ok your forgiven. You come home so tired that you are minutes away from falling on your face, ok your forgiven. If your pajama are a cute little boy short and tank top nightie combo that you come home and put on to get your husband to do what you ask, I understand. Final exception, your pajamas are your man’s t-shirts that you wear while naked underneath, then do your thang.

V Day Disaster

First let me start out by saying we have all planned" THE PERFECT DATE NIGHT", the one were you look hot and sexy, the ambience is seductive, and your man will hold a mental image of this night forever. Yes, that type of night. Then the forces-that-be play a cruel trick on you. I fell victim to these circumstances this past weekend. The perfect Valentine's day date night. Drinks, movie(you know the one), dinner and me sick by the end of the night. I wasn't planning on the coughing, sore throat, and headache but it had me in a strong grip by the end of the night. My husband brought champagne to bed while I was looking for the Alka-Seltzer Plus.
So, how do you come back from a disaster like that, smile and remember it does not take a holiday or birthday to do something hot as a couple.
We should be getting hot and sexy for our men as much as possible not because of one special day. When we make it a regular habit to do those special things for him he will notice and he will reciprocate the jester. So remember if your v-day was not up to your expectations then have a redo. I promise you that your man would love it even more because it's unexpected. I now have some planning to do ;)

Hearts and Flowers

This weekend is the big one for many ladies. It is the day your man is suppose to go for it and show you just how much he loves you. Chocolate, roses, jewelry, the whole big bang. Our expectation are high and some of us have even dropped hints. If Valentine's Day is your big holiday then I wish you a wonderful day. Some of us just look at it as if it's just another day for one reason or another and that's OK too. My point is not to let one day(holiday) defy your love by what you do or do not receive.
If you have one of those guys that shows his love by going all out and sweeping you off your feet with the full romance experience (I am jealous) happy for you. If you have a man who you have to nudge, kick or even strong arm to celebrate the holiday then handle your business but keep in mind that if you don't request heart and flowers throughout the year making him do it on this one particular day may seem meaningless to him. You deserve hearts and flowers regularly so set that expectation that you are more than just a once a year kind of girl.
If you don't have someone to share this holiday with it's OK.  Do something for yourself if that makes you happy or just chill for the night with a bottle of wine, a good book or a movie with a cute movie star(to many to name but I am sure Netflix will have a good line up for you). Remember the love you have for yourself trumps love from anyone else every time, Happy Valentine's to me with unconditional love.

Time for a Change

Have you ever looked back at photos of yourself and found that you look the same in all the photos. Now when I say the same I don't mean you look as if you have not aged(that would be a good thing) I mean your style or look has not changed. Same hairstyle/color, same makeup, same clothing style(this is probably not good based on the years you are looking back through the photos). Do you still look the same from 10, 7, 5 years ago. Has your style taken a hiatus from fashion/beauty. Now I ask because style in clothing, cosmetic, and shoes come and go but, if you some how have articles of clothing that are considered originals something is not right, this includes makeup that is discontinued but some how you still have original colors from when they first came out(a few years ago).
Clothing and makeup should be fun and experimental. They should enhance your feminine side, not continue to be used/ worn because they are easy, comfortable, and low maintenance. We are women and nothing about us is low maintenance. Now, this topic does not apply to the fabulous pieces of clothing that are vintage(worthy of keeping around because no matter how style changes they will always look fabulous,ie. leather jackets, old jeans, black pumps, the perfect black skirt/dress that hugs your butt, you get the idea).
I suggest that if this is your current situation it's time to branch out and up your wardrobe. I know we can't just go out and buy a new wardrobe even though many of us would love to experience that. I suggest purchase pieces to go with something you already have. We all have a great pair of jeans, or a perfect fitting pair of black pants. Take these key pieces and find shoes and blouses to go with them. This time of year is perfect to make purchases because many stores have great clearance sales. It is the best way to change up your look in an affordable way. When it comes to make up just jump in and purchase new colors, if you don't like them keep your receipt and return them(yes, many stores will take back open make up with your receipt, I have done it myself because I am a sucker for new mascaras). The moral of this blog is to take a look into the past and see if your present still mirrors your that style if the answer is yes I suggest you start stepping up your game and put a new style in place. Please do not rely on magazines to find it, keep it realistic and appropriate for you. The Guess models might be able to pull off that white crochet dress in the ad but where are you going to do with it?

Books vs Real Life Somethings Are Only Possible On Paper

I am a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, I loved the story and loved the hot, sexy chemistry between the characters. The sex scenes opened your imagination up to something you may not have even known about or though about. Here lies the problem since reading the book I have expanded my reading to other books, some along the lines of Fifty Shades and others not so much but still hot to read(I will give you a list later). I started wondering exactly how much of these sexual encounters were actually doable in real life. Yes, we would all want our man to take us in the car after a sexually charged dinner, or in the bathroom of a club or party, even in an elevator. Now how many of these acts are actually possible to pull off. I think we would all, if not some of us would like to have that experience but trying it in real life is completely different.
Without giving to much information I have had several experiences that seemed like a hot sexy idea but panned out different results that I can not disclose to protect the innocent and injured(my husband would kill me if I  put it in writing but 10+ years later he is still traumatized). I am just saying as ladies we can get caught up in some things but just know there is nothing like the real thing even if he is not ripping off your underwear in the heat of passion. As Christian Grey learned , there is nothing wrong with vanilla love. Now if you still want to experience this type of thrilled at least once in your life, I advise you to move into it with slowly. Dip your big toe in first, wade around a little, and slowly emerge yourself into the deep end.
More to come........

A Cold Winter Night

Let me start by saying, "It is COLD outside!" As I turned my heat up a few more degrees(I can't stand to be cold), I think about all the ways that I could be enjoying this frigid night. First idea coming home stripping down and soaking in a hot bath with a little background music, nothing romantic maybe a little R&B from the 90's to chill to. Throw a little Epsom salt in the water to take away the ache in my joints(cold weather can play some dirty tricks on your body), maybe add a drink or better yet something sweet to indulge in. Just sitting in the tub relaxing and singing along to Mary J Blige, that is a good night.
The second idea would be to come home light the fireplace with a big bowl of soup(Seafood Chowder that would make you drool, or a bowl of mac and cheese, I am hungry right now forgive me). Crawl up on the sofa with the remote in hand and watch a little mindless television to relax and warm up.
The third idea is a hot shower, put on the most comfortable outfit that you have(but not the PJ's, remember my blog No PJ's before 8, I mean that.), light some candles, grab a large cup of hot tea and a good book and enjoy. Bonus points if you have a comfy blanket to wrap yourself in or a Snuggie you are still holding on to(no judgement).
Now as you have read, none of my ideas involved a man, you could always throw one up in the mix if you want but tonight I am feeling like a little me time to warm these bones and yes it is OK to go solo, sometimes we need that. Now if you still got a little chill when you climb into bed tonight feel free to add some additional body heat and anything else to beat the cold winter night.
Stay warm ladies..........................

Resolutions?

How many of you have made resolutions for 2015? At the end of every year women make resolutions to improve themselves in some way. A complete overhaul from the year before, and many of us will not follow through and here is why I believe we don't. When we make resolutions we make them with the pretext that we are flawed in some type of way and must start a new year with a new you. Now, was the old you really that bad? we all could use little tweaks, and adjustments here or there but sometimes our resolutions-which are our feelings about ourselves make it seem as if we have to make ourselves over. Lets try being a little kinder to ourselves and upgrade ourselves instead of tearing ourselves down and rebuilding. We could all use a little upgrading in our lives rather it is a new attitude(stop being a negative Nelly), our clothing style(I have many blogs on this topic-pick one), a new man(we will talk on that topic soon), or a new way of doing things(you can't be a sexy confident woman if you are stuck in the past or in a rut, let go exhale and get to steppin in a better direction). I love myself flaws and all, I use to be and feel insecure and look for ways to make myself better in my eyes, I had to change my thinking of rebuilding myself to what I believe was perfect and just upgrade the me that I am into something more.
Now, you may be thinking what is the difference? I am who I am for a reason, my creator made me this way for the purpose he has for me in this life, who am I to change that? To upgrade yourself is to take who you are and build on that, it is not a tear down to put the puzzle back together, it is adding additional pieces to the puzzle to make the picture bigger and better. Take a step back and truly look at who you are from the inside out. List all the positive things if you need a visual, then if there is anything you still want to improve for yourself think about how you will "upgrade" yourself, no resolutions just an upgrade. For all those that don't know getting to your sexy is the ultimate upgrade because it brings confidence within yourself that no one can touch. You walk with your head held high, a strut in your step, and a sway in your hips that says I am happy with who I am.

Happy 2015 Ladies!
